New Website specially for my Workshops/Performances/Lectures

Lately I have been holding quite a lot of workshops, lectures and interactive performances at art projects and art festivals.
In the past three years,  more then ever my workshops, lectures and interactive performances have been selected or were requested.
I therefore decided to set up my own website for this type of art project. The site also includes more detailed and more comprehensive information than my general website.

Here is the link to the new website.

Love – Люблю

Based on the lesser known poem " Love " by the Russian poet Anna Akhmatova .For the time being this video is the last of a series of videos belonging to the video project Anticipating You in collaboration with theater group DFT STAGE
The two other videos are Anticipating You and Night, Street, Lantern, Pharmacy based on poems by Alexander Blok. However each of the three videos has a different visual approach and style. Specially in this video " Love "
Apparently there is no match between the text and images. The text does mention a snake and a dove, but in the visual part they do not occur at all. Instead, the main part of the video shows a late-night trip with the St.Petersburg Metro.

Anna Akhmatova is the literary pseudonym of Anna Andreevna Gorenko (Odessa 1889 - Domodedevo 1966)
She is regarded as one of the greatest Russian poets. Besides poetry, which constitutes the main share of her literary legacy, she wrote prose—primarily memoirs, autobiographical pieces, and literary scholarship, including her outstanding essays on Aleksandr Sergeevich Pushkin. She also produced many first-rate translations of Italian, French, Armenian, and Korean poetry. In her lifetime she experienced two different kinds of Russia, prerevolutionary and Soviet, yet her verse protected the traditions of classical Russian culture from the onslaught of avant-garde radicalism and formal experimentation, as well as from the suffocating ideological strictures of socialist realism. For all the restraint, femininity, and ostensible apoliticism of her verse, her poetic persona perfectly embodied the tragic spirit of twentieth-century Russia.

Now, like a little snake, it curls into a ball,
Bewitching your heart,
Then for days it will coo like a dove
On the little white windowsill.

Or it will flash as bright frost,
Drowse like a gillyflower . . .
But surely and stealthily it will lead you away
From joy and tranquility.

It knows how to sob so sweetly
In the prayer of a yearning violin,
And how fearful to divine it
In a still unfamiliar smile

CASUS VECTOR - artzond festival 2017

CASUS VECTOR

Video, Photo Installation, Performances

14 July - 16 July 2017
Gallery 14/45",
6th line, 39,  Vasilievski Island, St.Petersburg, Russia

The Festival gave an opportunity to present trends in the development of contemporary art - concepts that generate new approaches and ideas. At the current moment, the speed of changing "scenery" is hardly perceptible ... nevertheless, for the analysis and systematization of such forums are needed. Where the authors offer their ideas, their vision of the world, and where, the conceptual interpretation of reality does not always have an unambiguous artistic value. The era of democratic expansion is open to Creativity in all manifestations, and everyone can become a creator.

My video work Neither Here - Nor There, 2017 and Anticipating You, 2017 where presented at the festival. Both videos are related to St.Petersburg. For Anticpating You is was the premiere.

Night, Street, Lantern, Pharmcy - Ночь, улица, фонарь, аптека,

This video is the second part of my project Anticipating You. It is a visual interpretation of the poem Night, Street, Lantern, Pharmacy (1912) by Aleksandr Blok (1880-1921, St. Petersburg). The concept is the same as the first part of Anticipating You (see video Anticipating You) project. Only the visual reproduction is quite different. There are two films at the same time in one video. Although the poem is very short, a translation from Russian into other languages is not easy, since Bloks choice of words, allows a great variation of translation possibilities.

Night, street, lantern, pharmacy,
a meaningless and dull light
Even if you live another quarter of a century
All will remain the same. There is no exit.
You´ll die - then you´ll begin all over again
Night, the canal´s rippled icy surface

pharmacy, street, lantern

Anticipating You - Предчувствую Тебя

Begin May 2017 I finish and edited the first part of my video project Anticipating You. I created the video in collaboration with the theater group STAGE DFT in St. Petersburg, Russia. Finally the project will include three parts all based on poems by Aleksandr Blok and Anna Akhmatova

Based on the poem > Anticipating You < by the Russian poet Aleksandr Blok (St.Petersburg, 1880-1921). The video work is simultaneity a metaphoric investigation and interpretation of the poem , as well about the city of St. Petersburg. The work approach the interpretation and investigation in two ways at the same time> Through performance and visual images about the city. Influenced by Solovyov's doctrines, Blok had vague apocalyptic apprehensions and often vacillated between hope and despair.

The heavy dream of simple wordly conscience
You will shake off with pangs of love and rue.
V. Solovyov

Anticipating you, as years go by, so drear,
I see the same old image anticipating you.

The skyline is on fire, and it’s extremely clear.
I wait for you in silence with pangs of love and rue.

The skyline is on fire - your vision is so near,
I am afraid you’ll change and will not look the same,

You will arouse suspicion incurring wrath, my dear,
By changing your appearance, the features and the frame.

I will break down in grief, frustrated and austere,
Unable to subdue the mortal dreams again!

The skyline is so lucid. The lustre is so near.
I am afraid you’ll change and will not look the same.
