NNOI 9 #

My latest sound art creation 9 X MA premieres at

NNOI 9 #

19-21 July 2024,

NNOI is open air festival focusing on sound, sound art, electronic and experimental music other “obscure teachings”

NNOI, will take place in Zernikow and the surrounding area in the Neuruppiner Land in the State of Brandenburg, Germany . The historical Prussian, belt ensemble with a manor house, church, distillery, barns, mill, surrounded by a stream and extensive forest in a landscape conservation area . On the occasion of the 9th edition the festival want to deal with the mythical number NINE. The highest, therefore perfect single-digit number is deeply charged with symbolism, customs and associations. Whether the number of lives of a cat, Dante's circles of hell, the curse of the Ninth Symphony, dragons, muses or names for flora and fauna, NOIN9 can in-spire omnipresent.

9 x MA. The piece was created for this year's NNOI 9 # festival theme. In this work there are nine points that interrupt the generally monographic flow of sound. The sound of these 9 highlights has nothing in common with the rest of the constant flow of the basic sound. The sound is similar to hitting two bamboo sticks or hitting a hollow wooden vessel with a wooden stick. The concept of this sound piece is based on the Japanese philosophy of MA. With MA, the Japanese describe the intentional distance created by a short pause between actions or by the empty space between objects. A distance that is not emptiness or lost time, but represents a special connection. The Japanese concept of Ma is something that relates to all aspects of life. It has been described as a pause in time, an interval or emptiness in space. Ma is the fundamental time and space from which life needs to grow. Space for the Japanese psyche directly impacts the individual’s progress. These principles are universal, when applied effectively they enhance the way one thinks and how one engages with one’s surroundings.

CROSSING BORDERS Exhibition project in the Spitalseebunker

My video work “Dark Paths” is part of the

CROSSING BORDERS Exhibition project in the Spitalseebunker June 28th - July 21st, 2024

Conflicts, crises, divisions, polarizations in politics and society: times are more turbulent than they have been for many years. KulturPackt is taking up the situation and is carrying out a large exhibition project under the title "Crossing Borders". The basis is that in all cases of unrest, borders are crossed, both in the specific case of the violation of national borders and in the case of violations of the dignity of the individual. The exhibition is intended to refer to both the global conflict situation and the internal social divisions in relation to migration, social injustice, racism and the drifting apart of the political camps. 127 artists from all over Germany and neighboring countries from France to Ukraine applied for this project, of which a jury selected twenty-one. 21 very different thematic approaches from flight and warlike conflicts to symbolic, mythological or historical issues and even personal biographical references. The exhibition venue is the Spitalseebunker in Schweinfurt's city center.

From June 29th to July 21st, 2024, the KulturPackt will be showing the works and concepts of the selected artists at this fateful location for the city. The range of the exhibition is enormously diverse; it shows large-scale installations, classical paintings, video works, sculptures, screen prints and object art. Admission is free! The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, June 28th at 7 p.m.

During the exhibition there will be a supporting program with a reading by Anne Rabe (July 4th), a short film evening (July 12th), an art event in the city center (July 18th/19th) and a concert with the Anton Mangold Quartet (July 20th). Details can be found in the folder. The folder on "Crossing Borders" The project is supported by the city of Schweinfurt, the Schweinfurt Cultural Foundation and Riedel Bau.

About Dark Paths -Performance by Tsai Hsin Ying >: shadows, times, sides, secrets, hearts, minds, internal struggles, nights, ghosts, past, present, future. A body of the same person in two different states. Metaphorically reflecting shadows, secrets, internal struggles, the ghosts of the past, present and future. The issues and questions that haunt us and follow us. We can't see them but they exist. Covered and hidden within our bodies and thoughts.

"More or Less"

I am featured with a Q&A text and photography works in the recently published artist book with the title "More or Less?"

"More or Less?" is the sixth iteration of a publication series published and produced by SU4IP. (Sheffield, UK). Featuring the works of twenty-five different artists, all of which could in some way be described as maximalist, large, heavy, dense, or complicated, or alternatively; minimalist, small, light, dispersed, or simple.

"More or Less" is created in the interest of contrasting both, in a way that exemplifies and our creative differences, the potential for communicating ideas, and the extent to which artistic mediums are applied.

Publisher and initiator is Lyndon Watkinson

IV INTERNATIONAL ECOPERFORMANCE FILM FESTIVAL

My work “TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL” will premiere on May 30th, 2024 during the opening of the.

IV INTERNATIONAL ECOPERFORMANCE FILM FESTIVAL

São Paulo Edition

30/05/2024 - 02/06/2024

Opening May 30, 6:30 pm to 9 pm: Opening + Session 1

Cine Satyros Bijou, Praça Franklin Roosevelt, 172 – Consolação São Paulo, Brazil

At the intersection of cinema, performing arts, and ecology, the festival promotes films of established and emerging interdisciplinary artists investigating the tensions between environment, body, and ancestry in natural, urban, and virtual landscapes. The festival incentivizes films striving for less anthropocentric forms of dramaturgy and cinematography.

TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL/ 3:58 min./

Like many of my other works, I reflect on a subject in a metaphorical and fictional way rather than a direct or documentary way. The work contains spoken words and text

The focus of the work is on mental aspects such as thoughts and feelings about the circumstances of strokes of fate or adversity and what these mean or can do to people. No scenes of accidents, disasters, terror and war. Neither doves of peace nor moral slogans will appear in the work. It is simply a quiet reflection on all kinds of strokes of fate and the effects that issues such as accidents, catastrophes, terror and war bring with them.

PUPILA - Festival Int. De Videoarte

My video work "DARK PATHS" premieres at

PUPILA

Festival Internacional De Video Arte Morelia

23.05 - 24.05.2024

Auditorio CSAM,UNAM Morelia and Museo Casa Natakl De Morelos, Morelia,Mexico

"PUPILA"! This festival aims to explore diverse visions and perspectives through visual art and promote creativity in the field of video art.

“Dark Paths”

A visual metaphor for an indefinable latent threat. Present in an environment with no open exit. The search for a path that allows us to leave the threatening and hostile environment. Even the open sky is no relief as it too became part of a repellent environment.

Far Away or 9051 - Ode aan de Linge Land Art Festival

"Far Away or 9051"

The Land Art installation reflects the theme “VERTEPAIN” (want to leave, desiring something in the distance) of the Land Art Festival.

The desire for  far away horizons has always a base. You are in a place far away and yet everything is somehow connected to the place you left. But even when we leave, we always take things, feelings or memories with us from the place or a situation we left. But the desire to leave and change may not mean setting off for distant horizons, but can also mean wanting to leave ties, connections and boundaries behind. The work also refers to the disruptions that come with the changes. However, the works also reflect some autobiographical elements. I never feel at home anywhere, when I arrive in a place or a new situation after a while, I want to leave again.
